A contraindication is something that prevents you from receiving a treatment as it will probably make the condition worse.
It is not to scare you, merely to ensure you have a safe treatment and that neither you or myself are put at risk.
Some contraindications listed in the treatments below may be wavered if you can produce a letter from your doctor to confirm you are able to receive the treatment.
IMPORTANT: Please check you are not contraindicated to receive a treatment. I can't be held responsible if something goes wrong as it is assumed you have checked you do not suffer from any of the listed contraindications prior to booking an appointment.

- Nail infection
- Skin disorders affecting the hand
- Broken sore skin in treatment area
- Extremely weak nails
- Extremely badly bitten nails
- Nail separation
- Severe eczema or psoriasis
- Severe bruising

- Oedema - this means that too much fluid, mainly water, has accumulated in the body

- Poor circulation
- Moles - these can be treated depending on how many there are in the area to be treated. They will simply be covered with a plaster during the treatment
- Pregnancy
- Skin diseases
- Sunburn
- Hypersensitive skin
- New scar tissue (under 3 months old)
- Un-diagnosed lumps and bumps
- Varicose veins
Note: Please also be aware, latex gloves are worn by the therapist for hygiene reasons during the treatment. If you suspect you may be allergic, please tell the therapist.
- Allergies to hair perming or colouring treatments
- Hyper-sensitive skin or sensitivity to eye make-up
- Any contagious skin conditions on or around the eye or eye lid.
- Eye disorder e.g. conjunctivitis, stye
- Excessively dry/flaky skin or cuts around the eye
- Hypersensitive skins e.g. sunburn
- Extremely vascular skins
- Acute inflammation or swelling in the face
- Infectious skin condition
- Asthma or severe sinus disorder - asthma pump would need to be present
- Diabetic
- Cancer
- Recent facial injectable, acidic peels, operations or surgery
- Severe acne
- Heart conditions
- High or low blood pressure
- Eczema or psoriasis
- Contagious skin diseases
- Cold sores
- Conjunctivitis
Within the facial routine there is steam treatment, which in addition to the above are more contra-indications that you need to be aware of:
- Split capillaries
- Claustrophobia
- Pregnancy during first 14 weeks and last 4 weeks
- Diabetic
- Any forms of cancer
- Asthma - asthma pump would need to be present
- Epilepsy
- High & low blood pressure
- Heart Conditions
- Phlebitis - inflammation of the veins
- Thrombosis
- Allergies
- Client on medication or antibiotics
- Severe circulatory disorders
- Acute soft tissue inflammation
- Raised body temperature
- Varicose veins
- Skin disorders
- Recent operations
- Cuts or abrasions
- Neuritis - this refers to an inflammation of the nerves
- Menstruation
- Heart Disease
- Skin Diseases
- Diabetes
- Epilepsy
- Pregnancy
- Osteoporosis - this is a condition that affects the bones, causing them to become thin, fragile and prone to break or fracture
- Oedema - this means that too much fluid, mainly water, has accumulated in the body
